7.10.2009
Revision of Section 630
ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC CONTROL EMPLOYEE
Section 630 of the Standard Specifications is hereby revised for this
project as follows:
Subsection 630.10, after the first paragraph, shall include the
following:
The Contractor shall provide a minimum of one additional employee to
assist each Traffic Control Supervisor required for the project in
performing traffic control management. Each of these additional
employees shall be provided with his own truck for use on the project.
These additional employees shall perform traffic control related
duties as assigned by the TCS. These additional employees shall be
certified as flaggers so that when not directly assisting the TCS,
they may provide flagger breaks. For the sake of wages on Federal Aid
Davis Bacon projects the additional employees shall be paid the wage
appropriate to the type of work they are performing on the project.
Subsection 630.10, third paragraph, immediately following the first
sentence, shall include the following:
A minimum of one Traffic Control Supervisor and additional employee
shall be on site at all times when active traffic control activities
in accordance with an approved MHT are underway.
In subsection 630.14, sixth paragraph, delete the first two sentences
and replace with the following:
The quantity to be measured for Traffic Control Management will be the
number of 24-hour days of active TCM performed by one or more Traffic
Control Supervisors with additional employees. Payment will be made
for one day of Traffic Control Management regardless of the number of
Traffic Control Supervisors with additional employees required to
adequately control the work for that 24-hour period.
Subsection 630.15 shall include the following:
Payment for Traffic Control Management will be full compensation for
all work and materials required to complete the item, including the
actual number of Traffic Control Supervisors with additional employees
required by the Contractor’s phasing and all vehicles required for the
Traffic Control Supervisors and additional employees. Flagging breaks
provided by the additional employees will not be measured and paid for
separately, but shall be included in the work.
