Job Purpose
The post holder will lead a progressive and dynamic team involved in a
range of new and existing Work Based Learning (WBL) programmes, with a
particular emphasis on apprenticeships, within the Business Enterprise
Centre and across the college. This includes strategically managing a
team of WBL Development Coordinators and assessor/trainers across all
sectors promoting a whole college approach to WBL, setting and
achieving targets and establishing and maintaining high quality
provision.
Key Tasks/Duties
*
Lead a team of Work Based Learning (WBL) Development Coordinators
and assessor/trainers to deliver innovative teaching, learning and
assessment models that maximise learner achievement and
progression in apprenticeships, work place training and adult
skills programmes.
*
To create an ethos where the highest quality of Teaching, Learning
and Assessment raises learner aspirations, stretches and
challenges learners to achieve to the best of their ability
supports the learner to progress.
*
To be responsible for the effective management of innovative Work
Based Learning curriculum within the Business Enterprise Centre
and the wider college.
*
To lead the effective recording and tracking of learner progress
and monitor team performance contributing to high levels of
overall and timely success in WBL, dealing effectively with
underperformance.
*
Ensuring a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to the
development of new apprenticeship provision within BEC and the
wider college to grow apprenticeship opportunities.
*
Lead the implementation and development of the Information
Learning Technology (ILT) agenda within WBL including role out of
e-tracking and e-portfolio systems.
*
Create and maintain a positive client centred ethos within the
team to provide high levels of employer engagement resulting in
excellent levels of employer satisfaction with both new and
existing customers.
*
To develop approaches within the team that provide the Head of
Business Enterprise Centre with monthly reports on KPI activity
including starts, overall and timely success, learner progress,
H&S monitoring, learner and employer feedback.
*
To lead the coordination of Health and Safety monitoring of work
placements and employer premises to ensure all premises are safe
and suitable for WBL provision.
*
Contribute to the college Quality Assurance processes by producing
accurate and analytical self-assessment documentation the drives
forward continuous improvement.
*
Work closely with Quality and Administration teams to ensure
systems and processes are adhered to.
*
Work closely with Business Development Manager to ensure
opportunities for business are maximised and recruitment levels
are achieved.
*
Work closely with Performance and Development Manager -
Pre-employment to ensure learner progression into work and
training is maximised.
General Duties

In addition to the requirements of the post above, the following

implement approval procedures and ensure subsequent delivery meets
approved criteria.

potential ensuring that they are provided with a systematic
programme of development and support.

To liaise with external organisations and participate in the
gathering of labour market intelligence; in marketing the College
and providing data, reports and other information as and when

materials and staffing.

To be a member of the College Middle Management Team, to provide
an image of the College that is consistent with the College
mission and values and to represent the College on internal and
external committees as required.

To be responsible for managing effective change.
*
To ensure policies and procedures are followed by all employees.
*
To comply with all College policies and procedures.
*
To carry out such duties as may be required by the Principal and
Chief Executive.
Salary
Management Spine: £37,573 to £38,662 per annum.

The College Standard of Service of Management Spine Employees will
apply.
Hours of attendance: Full Time – 37 hours per week
Holiday entitlement: 35 days plus statutory holidays

A Degree or relevant qualification which is appropriate to the work
Relevant successful teaching experience with either learners of all
ages
Relevant experience of co-ordinating a curriculum area
A Teaching Qualification

Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies
in relation to Learners with barriers to learning including emotional
and behavioural difficulties and/or specific learning difficulties
An understanding of and commitment to Inclusive Learning and
Disability Equality
Knowledge and understanding of the delivery of skills for life
qualifications
Postgraduate and/or relevant professional experience.
Competence in IT
Highly motivated and committed to developing Pre-employment Programmes
Proactive and innovative approach to the curriculum design
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Skills in the development and implementation of personalised learning
programmes
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
