NOVEMBER 2, 2017 MEETING MINUTES
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Jacquie Ewing. Ms. Ewing
read the Open Public Meetings Act. Flag Salute. Roll call.
Present: Jacquie Ewing, Jim Thatcher, Richard Hoy, Stacey Tracy, Kate
Nestor, Michele Petrucci, Nina Ranalli, Erin Brown
Absent: Carl Mattia, Lynn Schwartz, Mayor Pagliughi, John McCorristin,
Erin Law-Board Solicitor
A motion to approve the minutes of the October 12, 2017 meeting was
made by Michele Petrucci and seconded by Richard Hoy. Approved by all.
No one from the public was present and there were no public comments.
A motion to approve the payment of thirty-five checks in the amount of
$81,905.28 was made by Jim Thatcher and seconded by Richard Hoy.
Approved by all. A list is attached of those checks and made a part of
these minutes.
Erin Brown began the Directors’ report. The Capital Plan has been
presented to the Space, Buildings and Grounds and Finance Committees.
Still interviewing for the Digital Library Associate position. Looking
at the 2018 compensation budget and January 1, 2018 will be the new
increase date, in keeping with the Borough’s increase date. Work on
the website moving forward. Planning session for the summer “One Book,
One Community”. Nina Ranalli told the Board that a Scan Party was
held. She and Erin attended the Borough’s Trunk or Treat along with
Shannon Nagle. They are still planning activities for Festive Friday
and Snowfest Saturday. Erin mentioned that the door count is up and
the programming attendance has doubled over last year. A motion to
approve the collections acquisitions was made by Richard Hoy and
seconded by Kate Nestor. Approved by all. The acquisitions include:

Patty Davis gave the Seven Mile Publishing Update. Tracking social
media campaigns. All promotional items for November complete. “30 Days
of Thanks”. Thanksgiving Weekend events have been finalized.
A motion to approve Resolution No. 15-17, allocating amounts in the
capital reserve account for the capital plans for calendar years 2018,
2019 and 2020, was made by Jim Thatcher and seconded by Richard Hoy.

Nina gave an overview to the Board regarding the possible addition to
the History Center building. The addition would be on the west side, a
two story addition. Jacquie Ewing read a letter to the Board from
Mayor Pagliughi, dated October 20th, 2017 supporting this addition.
According to Erin Brown, the cost would be approximately $250,000.
Richard Hoy suggested looking at some of the houses in town being
demolished and perhaps having one of them donated as part of the
addition.
