SCHEDULE
Competition will be run in accordance with the current BHS TREC
Rulebook (Sixth edition – 2012 plus any new rules issued by the BHS)
and general rules detailed below. BHS TREC Rulebook is available from
the British Horse Society Bookshop, Stoneleigh Deer Park, Kenilworth
CV8 2XZ.
1.
Horses and ponies are a minimum of four years old in 2014.
2.
Mares more than four months pregnant should not be competing.
3.
Competitors must hold suitable third party liability & personal
accident insurance.
4.
Riders under the age of fourteen on day of competition may only
compete in Pairs classes and must be accompanied by a rider of 16
years or older. Pairs ride together for POR and separately for CoP
and PTV. Parents/guardians of competitors under the age of 16 will
be required to complete a Parental Consent Form.
5.
Clearly visible coloured tail wraps/ribbons should be worn to
advise other riders of a potential hazard – Red = Kicker, Green =
young/inexperienced horse, Blue = Stallion.
6.
No rider will be permitted to start any phase of the competition
unless wearing a hard hat, which meets a standard currently
recommended by the BHS.
7.
Riders must wear a body protector during the PTV, Beta 3 standard
is recommended.
8.
Riders must wear suitable riding footwear, or use suitable
enclosed stirrups.
9.
Standing Martingales and other fixed reins are forbidden.
10.
Whips must not exceed 75cms (1m for side-saddle). Spurs if worn
must be rounded, not exceeding 3cms in length and pointed
downwards.
11.
Mobile phones may be carried for use in emergency but must be
declared prior to entering the map room and be switched off.
12.
Riders in BHS TREC competitions must wear fluorescent/reflective
hi-viz clothing during the POR phase.
13.
Horses will be required to wear ID during POR showing rider name;
competitor number; emergency telephone number for event.
14.
All competitors are required to wear a completed medical armband
or similar during all phases of the event. This should contain
basic information to help any First Aid staff to assist you .
REQuired EQUIPMENT
Tack and equipment will be checked. The following should be carried on
the POR phase, failure to have these items incurs a 2 point penalty
for each item up to a maximum of 10 penalty points:

Important ENTRY INFORMATION
PLEASE NOTE, IF BRINGING YOUR OWN HORSE, ENTRANTS WHO ARE NOT EITHER
MEMBERS OF A RIDING CLUB OR BHS GOLD MEMBERS WILL NEED TO PROVIDE
EVIDENCE OF THIRD PARTY LIABILITY RIDING INSURANCE WITH THEIR ENTRY OR
IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED (Not applicable to those who are hiring
Rheidol Riding Centre horses).

14 April 2014. All entries must be in writing and accompanied by the
correct entry fee, plus proof of insurance (if not BHS/RC member).

Health and Safety
The event organisers and venue owners have taken all reasonable
precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For
those measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable
precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the
instructions provided on the day. It is mandatory that each rider
wears a properly fitted hat to the correct standard. Trained first
aiders will be present at the event and should be summoned in the
event of an accident. Horses/ponies should not be left tied up without
supervision. Contact telephone numbers will be available for a
veterinary service.
Please take care to safeguard your own possessions. Young children
must be supervised at all times. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all
times. Neither the event organisers, venue owners nor land owners can
accept responsibility for loss or injury to persons, animals or
vehicles howsoever caused. Please ensure you are happy with these
arrangements in place.
Irresponsible riding that is considered by the organiser to be
compromising the safety of others will result in elimination from the
competition.
