Responsible to: Class teacher
Job Purpose: Contribute to the management of pupil behaviour and
support pupils during learning activities. Establish and maintain
relationships with individual pupils and groups. Provide cover
supervision for whole classes where and when required. Review and
develop own professional practice.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

To plan and deliver work, and record progress for the individual
child and for groups of children to facilitate participation in
lessons.

To implement educational plans for child with an Educational
Health Care Plan in order to meet the requirements of the plan
*
Support the delivery of training in conjunction with the
specialist teacher of visual impairment
*
To support class teachers in their duties, including
administrative tasks, enabling them to work effectively.
*
To create a purposeful learning environment to stimulate and
motivate learning.
*
To promote the well being of all pupils through pastoral care and
behaviour management both in the classroom and in the playground.
*
To work as part of a team to share good practice and support
colleagues.
*
To continue to develop professional knowledge, skills and
understanding in order to further professional development.
*
To liaise with parents, and if necessary, outside agencies.
*
To follow health and safety procedures and provide effective first
aid support to ensure all children and adults are safe

ESSENTIAL
*
Good standard of general education including maths and English
GSCE or equivalent
*
Previous experience (1-2 years) of working with children.
*
Able to use technology confidently (computer programs, video,
photocopier)
*
Have the ability to relate well to children and adults,
understanding their needs and being able to respond accordingly.
*
Good influencing skills to encourage pupils to interact with
others and be socially responsible.
DESIRABLE
*
Specialist training in delivering Braille, up to Level 3
*
Working with visually impaired children part 1 and 2 qualification
*
Specialist training in delivering speech and language programmes
*
Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection,
health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality.
*
First Aid qualification.
*
Driving licence in order to attend specialist training
