PURPOSE
This role will provide support to Dorset Police by undertaking victim
updates to

Victims of Crime
*
Victims of Personal Anti-Social Behaviour
This role will support victim bureau operators in updating victims
through their preferred method of contact e.g. telephone, letter,
e-mail etc. As well as providing updates, volunteers will signpost
vulnerable victims and those of greatest need to support functions
both within and outside Dorset Police. Keeping people informed is key
to maintaining and enhancing people’s trust and confidence in Dorset
Police. The aim is to be part of multi-agency hub providing timely and
accurate updates through someone’s journey through the Criminal
Justice process.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
INPUT

Updating victims via various preferred contact methods. The majority
will be sent as a queue of work via an automated system.
Ensure victims receive consistent and timely updates. This will
increase peoples confidence in Dorset Police’s ability to keep them
informed.
Research various sources of information to ensure the information
passed is accurate
and useful.
To ensure the updates given are accurate
Maintain and update records of victim updates
To enable all agencies to see the victim’s current status and needs
Signposting victim’s to sources of support and advice
Provide vulnerable victims and those of greatest need with adequate
support

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION e.g. Amount of hours per week, whether
you need a volunteer on certain days.
The aim of this proposal is to provide enough suitably trained
volunteers to provide a rota so that the Bureau is supplemented
through volunteers throughout the week and at various times throughout
the day. Therefore, the amount of hours and the days of the week will
be flexible within the terms of the rota.
