DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
The English Education Major
===========================
Sample Four-Year Degree Program and Degree Checklist
Below is a sample program that gives you one possible way (but not the
only way) to complete your coursework. The premise guiding this
proposed sequence is that you will take a full load each fall and
spring and no courses during the summer. Obviously, if you take summer
courses, you will complete your program more quickly (or you can take
fewer hours during fall/spring). Please note: Your final two semesters
must occur during Fall/Spring and be sequenced and scheduled exactly
as detailed below. If you have questions, contact Dr. Rob Montgomery ([email protected])
or consult the English Education website.

Incoming freshmen are strongly encouraged to complete ENGL 1101 their
first semester, ENGL 1102 their second semester, and ENGL 2110 their
third semester. ENGL 2110 is the prerequisite for all required English
courses beyond the general education level. Once ENGL 2110 has been
completed, EE majors should take ENGL 2271 (our gateway course) as
soon as possible.
