neuroimaging (CAN).
POLICY for PILOT PROJECTS
1.
Pilot Projects are those that will be used to
(a) Test ideas for potentially fundable long-term projects;
(b) Collect pilot MRI data for grant applications;
(c) or Establish feasibility for new collaborations.
2.
All members of UCR ladder and clinical faculty are eligible to
apply.
3.
Applications for pilot project time should be submitted
electronically using the application form. Applications should be
submitted at least three (3) weeks prior to the intended start
date. For projects involving human subjects, an IRB approval must
be in place before the start of the project. An IACUC approval
will be required before the start of any animal projects. Once
received, applications will be reviewed by the scientific advisory
committee of the CAN for review within 2-3 weeks. A technical
screening will also be conducted by CAN. A decision will be made
by the CAN director based on the committee review and MR time
availability and emailed to the applicant.
4.
Pilot Projects will be funded based on their merits. Ten hours of
scanning time is recommended for each pilot project. Each PI can
hold at most two current pilot projects. Approved time will be
valid for 1 year from the time of the approval.
5.
Once the pilot project is approved, it will be assigned a CAN
project number, with logging in credentials for reserving time for
scanning. Note that time reserved without actual usage will be
considered as used if not cancelled 24 hours in advance (for more
details please see CAN policy at CAN.UCR.edu).
6.
Data will be accessible via ssh for UCR IPs on the scanner console
immediately after the scan, or on the UCR-CAN data server the next
day, via the credential of the PI’s login to these computers.
7.
Publications from pilot projects must acknowledge support of the
Center for Advanced Neuroimaging.
NOTE: Please contact CAN (email: [email protected]; phone: 2-7535; fax:
2-7537) if clarification of any policy item is needed.
