Magistrates Court, Huddersfield, Hull and Holderness,
Kingston-upon-Hull, Leeds District, North East Derbyshire and
Dales, Pickering, Pontefract, Rotherham, Scarborough, Scunthorpe,
Selby, Sheffield, Skegness, Skipton, Wakefield, Whitby, Wetherby,
York.

Your request has been passed to me as I have responsibility for
answering requests which relate to data in Her Majesty’s Courts and
Tribunals Service (HMCTS). HMCTS is an executive agency of the MoJ and
is responsible for the administration of the magistrates' courts,
Crown Court centres, county courts, the High Court, Court of Appeal
and Tribunals in England and Wales and non-devolved Tribunals in
Scotland and Northern Ireland.
I can confirm that the department holds some of the information that
you have asked for and I am pleased to provide this to you. Please see
the tables below.
Regarding magistrates’ courts, data is only available at Local Justice
Area (LJA) level and not for individual courts as per your request. An
LJA consists of one or more magistrates' courts, with work dealt with
and heard at any court within the same LJA as appropriate to meet
local business needs. For example, one court may hear certain types of
case, or cases may be recorded at one court who provide the back
office preparation and post trial work for an LJA but the hearings may
have been at another court in the LJA. Therefore data can only be
accurately collated and reported at LJA level.
The table below shows the 2009 and 2012 data for current LJAs that
contain the Courts that you have asked for. Our magistrates’ courts
central database does not hold information to this degree of detail
for 2006 or 2002 as it has only been in use since 2008. Before this a
number of legacy systems existed and data is no longer held.
