14. General Summary of Function/Purpose of Position
Serves as the Regional Master Electrician of record for the Southern
Region Administration area of control. Handles all required electrical
permitting and inspections, NEC interpretation and requirements,
for all Southern Region Administration Facilities. This position also
inspects, installs, repairs, and performs Preventive maintenance on
electrical and security equipment utilizing self and prisoner workers
for CFA Jackson Business office and facilities throughout the Southern
region. This position determines methods, materials needed, and
equipment to complete assignments and electrical projects throughout
the Southern Region. This is a hand’s on position and may require
travel throughout the southern region including overnight stays.

Duty 1
General Summary of Duty 1 % of Time 50
Coordinates and completes all required electrical permitting and
inspections for all Southern Region Administration areas of control.
Provides NEC interpretation, blueprint interpretation, and other
electrical related information to CFA Jackson Business office and
Southern Region Administration facilities Journeyman electricians.
Individual tasks related to the duty.

Performs all NEC required permitting and inspection duties for all
Southern Region Administration Facilities.

Interprets electrical drawings for various electrical projects
throughout the region.

Provide other electrical information to facility journeyman
electricians when requested.
Duty 2
General Summary of Duty 2 % of Time 25
Develop drawings, material estimates, and work plans for construction
and maintenance projects using proper electrical codes and best
practices. Completes, projects, work orders and preventive maintenance
in a timely manner using self and prisoner work crews.
Individual tasks related to the duty.

Plans and completes assigned tasks by interpreting and applying
electrical plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other
guides and codes necessary to complete specific tasks for electric
and security systems.

Ensure work is completed to the standards required by the codes
having jurisdiction and using best construction practices.

Complete work requests, preventative maintenance, and projects in
a timely manner using self and prisoner work crews.

Supervising prisoner work crews and completing all policy and
operating procedure required documentation for prisoner work crews.

Perform prisoner counts and complete count paperwork when
required.

Complete prisoner training prior to each assigned task and
document on correct forms.

Ensure prisoners are using best construction practices when
completing assigned tasks.

Complete prisoner job performance evaluations on a timely basis.

Maintain inventory, complete requisitions for supplies materials and
tools. Complete training, payroll, work orders, and any other required
paperwork in a timely manner.
Individual tasks related to the duty.

Maintains and repairs equipment and hand tools. Prepare
requisitions for materials and equipment needed to complete
assigned electrical trades tasks.

Maintains working inventory of stock electrical trades supplies
and materials; to include devices, cable and wiring, conduit and
fittings, and other needed supplies.

Completes material lists for assigned tasks. Interacts with
vendors/suppliers and prepares requisition forms for processing.
*
Completes weekly paperwork for all aspects of tool control,
inventory control, hazardous material control, fire safety,
sanitation and job safety inspections.
*
Maintains equipment and tools per manufactures requirements and
ensure tools and equipment meet all safety standards.

Work is performed upon approval by supervisor in reference to
available funding for maintenance and projects. Work assignment orders
are issued through verbal explanation, drawings, sketch, or blueprint,

This position will complete all types of alterations, repairs,

Southern Region Administration area of control.

EDUCATION:
Education level typically through completion of high school.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of electrical trade experience equivalent to an Electrician
Master Licensed E10.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to perform the assigned tasks without any additional
supervison.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Possession of a master electrician license issued by the State of
Michigan.
