Hugh Young has served as a contract mediator covering the District and
County courts of the 11th Judicial District (Fremont, Chaffee, Park
and Custer Counties) for the Colorado Judicial Branch’s Office of
Dispute Resolution since 2005. In full-time practice since 2003, Hugh
has extensive training in all aspects of civil mediation and conducts
over 250 court-referred mediations per year. His mediation experience
includes: divorce, parenting, real estate, construction, torts,
dissolution of businesses and partnerships, partition of property,
sale of goods, employment, water, government and land use disputes.
Hugh is certified as an Advanced Family Practitioner by the
Association for Conflict Resolution and is recognized as a
Professional Mediator by the Colorado Council of Mediators. Hugh was
elected to serve on the Salida City Council in 2005, served as a
member of the Salida Planning Commission, and also serves on the
Issues Committee of the Colorado Municipal League. In 2008, he was
appointed to serve on the Chaffee County Right-To-Ranch Conflict
Resolution Panel. Hugh holds an Advance Certificate in Environmental
Policy from the University of Denver and is an award-winning author of
articles on conflict resolution.
