Photos are configured by image size and resolution.

Resolution is made up of connecting dots called Pixels.
*
The word Pixel stands for Picture Element.

Most computer monitors see 72 pixels per inch or 72dpi

Optimizing photos with Fireworks
*
In fireworks go to Modify; canvas; image size

In Print Size you can change your size in percent,
inches or centimeters. The height and width are linked
(if you change one the other will automatically change
to conform to the proportions. If you don’t want this
function you can uncheck the Constraint Proportions box.

Resolution should be set at 72 pixels per inch

In Fireworks go to Modify; canvas; image size

Using pixels, centimeters or inches you can set the size
of the canvas.

This will allow you to add additional pictures to the
same canvas.

Using the Optimizing Window

If you do not have the optimizing window you can go to Window;
optimize
*
Under settings you can change to the GIF or JPEG that is
optimal for your needs.

Choosing an image format
1.
GIF – images are generally used for line art and
images with solid colors. They can contain transparent
areas and can be used for animation files.
*
Disadvantage – they are restricted to 256 colors
2.
JPEG – are used for photographic images or images with
gradients and more colors.
*
Disadvantage – they cannot be transparent or used in
animations.
*
If you go click on preview (a tab below the tool bar) you will
be able to preview the picture in the format selected.
*
Click on 2-up or 4-up to look at 2 or 4 different previews of
the picture. They will also show the size and speed of the
picture.
